Our All-Inclusive Experts have spent a lot of time at Sandals Royal Curaçao, and today Susie Christensen is sharing an up-close look at one of the most sought-after butler bungalows at the resort. Watch her walkthrough video here, then read her honest take on the Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalow (room code KB) below.
The KB bungalows are standalone villas arranged around a heart-shaped swim-up pool with a lush private island in the center. Step off your patio and you’re in the water, with lounge chairs right at the water’s edge so you can sit half in, half out. It’s semi-private, shared with seven other bungalows, but the heart-shaped layout and island in the middle mean you’re really only alongside a couple of neighbors. 24 hour butler service is included, along with a mini convertible rental to visit town.
One of the most common questions we get is how the KB compares to the Awa Seaside Bungalow (ASP). The bungalow itself is essentially identical inside, but the KB trades the private infinity pool and oceanfront setting for the shared swim-up pool, at roughly $1,400 to $1,600 less per night. Read on for Susie’s full review.
All-Inclusive Expert Susie Christensen has personally visited every Sandals and Beaches resort and knows Sandals Royal Curaçao inside and out. She was in the Kurason Island Poolside Butler Bungalow on her latest stay and shared her honest review of the rooms. You can ask her questions directly below.
Where are the Kurason bungalows located on the resort, and what’s that area like?
Susie C: They’re set back from the beach in their own private cluster, all arranged around the heart-shaped pool. It’s a really quiet area of the resort, probably one of the quietest spots on the property alongside the seaside bungalows. You’re not right on the beach, but you’re close to everything. The food trucks are nearby, restaurants are just a short walk, and the big double-decker infinity pool is only a couple of minute walk away. There’s also a beautiful Greek restaurant facing the ocean that’s a really nice option for dinner. You have butlers, so you can have anything brought right to you anyway, but the location is convenient despite being tucked away.
The heart-shaped swim-up pool is cool and unique. What’s it like to stay in these bungalows?
Susie C: It’s a really pretty setting. All the bungalows are in a circle around the pool, there’s a lot of vegetation, trees, shrubs around the outside, and the little island right in the middle of the heart which you can actually swim out to and go on. A lot of my clients go to the beach in the morning, hang out there, and then when it starts getting warmer in the afternoon, come back to the room and hang out in the shady pool & on their patio. Have the butler bring lunch if they want. Get ready for dinner, have your butlers bring you appetizers and drinks. And then when you get home from dinner you can swim in the evening too. There’s lights in the pool, it’s a really nice way to relax after dinner. You’ve also got your Tranquility Soaking Tub out on the patio.
How private is it though, you’re sharing with seven other bungalows?
Susie C: More than you’d think actually. It’s not your own private pool like the Awa bungalows of course, but it’s hard for other people at the resort to even see in to the heart pool area, because of all the vegetation around the outside. The pool’s big, and with the island in the middle you can’t really see the bungalows across from you. So it’s really only the ones beside you that you might see. Some people like the social side of it. They end up getting to know their neighbors, hanging out. And the butlers will combine if you want, like if a few bungalows want to do a happy hour together, the butlers will work with you on that and bring snacks and drinks out. I have a group of four couples that travel together and they specifically request these rooms so they can all be side by side and share that space. It’s a great option if you plan ahead and they’re available.
These bungalows are set back from the swimming beach. How far is it really, and what’s nearby?
Susie C: Probably about a 7-minute walk to the swimming beach, give or take depending on how fast you’re walking. They are some of the furthest rooms from the beach at the resort, I won’t sugarcoat that. But there are bikes scattered around the property you can just grab and ride over, takes about 2 minutes. And honestly everything at Sandals Royal Curaçao is pretty walkable, it’s not a huge resort. Right next to these bungalows there’s a restaurant where you can sit on the patio and have breakfast facing the ocean, and in the evening it becomes a Greek restaurant. It’s really good, open air, indoor/outdoor, cozy seating area. Food trucks are close by too, though you’ve got a butler so they can just bring things to you anyway. And you’re only a couple minutes from the big double-decker infinity pool.
Tell us about the butler service with these bungalows.
Susie C: Usually we’ll have two butlers a day, one per shift. They’ll reserve chairs at the beach or the main pool if you want to head over there for the day. They’ll bring any meal you want right to your bungalow, breakfast in bed, lunch on the patio, whatever. Appetizers and drinks before dinner. They can handle all your restaurant reservations too. And a lot of times, especially with the Kurason poolside bungalows, if a few bungalows want to do a happy hour together out by the pool, the butlers will coordinate and bring everything out. It’s just really seamless. You don’t have to think about much. Makes it super fun and relaxing.
For someone who’s never had a butler before, what should they expect?
Susie C: First time I had butlers I was worried they were just going to be in our way the whole time, always calling or always around. That was not the case at all. They’re just there to make everything seamless. They greet you when you arrive, give you a quick tour, show you all the amenities, and give you a phone so you can call or text whenever you need something. Right away they’ll ask what restaurants you want to eat at and make all the reservations. They can get you into even the busiest restaurants when other guests can’t. And if you’re celebrating something, a birthday, anniversary, tell them ahead of time. They’ll set something up. Just use them. That’s what they’re there for. They’re all pretty fun and casual, it’s not like some stuffy butler situation, they’re more like fun energetic friends by the end usually.
Walk us through the bungalow itself.
Susie C: The inside is the same as the Awa Seaside Bungalows, same layout, same square footage, same everything really. Hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, king-size bed, really comfortable. Fully stocked wet bar with premium liquor, dining table. The bathroom has his and hers sinks, big backlit mirror, walk-in rain shower. Outside on the patio you’ve got the soaking tub, sun loungers, and the chairs that sit right at the water’s edge. There are curtains around the soaking tub area if you want more privacy, and the sliding glass wall has blackout curtains too so you can really close everything off if you want. It’s a standalone building, so it really does feel like your own little private villa. Because it is. That’s one of the best things about it.
How hard is it to actually get one of these bungalows and how much are they?
Susie C: There are only 8 of them, so availability is limited. Better than the Awa Seaside Bungalows, but still. We book them sometimes a year or more in advance. There are plenty of dates already sold out in 2026. If you’re thinking about it, don’t wait. And once you put the deposit down it locks in your rate, so if prices go up after you book you’re protected. The deposit is $1,000 and it is non-refundable, but it is transferable to the same room type within a year if your plans change and sometimes you can keep doing that if you really need, they are sometimes flexible with us and we have our own Sandals contacts we work with so it’s not just the 1-800 number.
Pricewise, these are the second most expensive room at Sandals Royal Curaçao, right behind the Awa Seaside Bungalows. We’re seeing rates from around $2,350 to $2,875 per night per couple in 2026, with most dates in the $2,350 to $2,550 range. The Kurasons do rarely go on the 777 promotion, I’ve seen it before, but not a lot. If you book with us though we can watch for that and look into getting it applied to your booking if one comes up. To compare, the Awa bungalows run roughly $1,400 to $1,600 more per night than these Kurason Bungalows, but then you get the oceanfront location, literally right on the beach, and private infinity pool, so that’s what the price reflects. Just kind of depends on what you’re looking for and your budget.
Who is this room best for, and is there anyone you’d steer away from it?
Susie C: It’s great for couples celebrating something special, honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, that kind of thing. People who want a really private, luxurious experience without necessarily needing to be right on the beach. If you’re a pool person, this is a really good fit. You’ll end up in the water way more than you normally would just because it’s right there. And like I said, groups of couples really love these. I have clients who book them every year and specifically request to be side by side. But if having an ocean view or being right on the beach is really important to you, this isn’t the room. You’d want to look at the Awa Seaside Bungalows instead. That’s the honest answer.
