Our All-Inclusive Experts have stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian multiple times, and today Matt Garton is sharing an honest look at one of the most popular club level rooms in the East Bay Village. Watch his walkthrough video here, then read his thoughts below on the East Bay Honeymoon Oceanview Club Level Room (room code HC). You can also ask him questions directly!
The HC is one of the go-to club level options on the East Bay side of Sandals Royal Bahamian, sitting on floors two through six of the Balmoral Oceanfront Village with partial ocean views from a private balcony. Inside it’s a spacious, bright room with a king-size bed, fully stocked bar, and a well-appointed bathroom with double marble vanity and walk-in shower. Club Sandals concierge service is included, with preferred check-in, room service from 7am to 10pm, and access to the Club Sandals Lounge.
Another nice thing is that Sandals Royal Bahamian includes access to Sandals Barefoot Cay, a private island just a short boat ride from the resort, with its own beach, restaurant, spa, pool, and snorkeling. It’s one of the things that sets this resort apart from almost every other Sandals property. See below for Matt’s opinion of this room.

He doesn’t hold back when writing reviews of the rooms he stays in (and he has stayed in a lot of them!). All so he can best advise his clients to help make their trips memorable. The walkthrough video above is from one of his recent stays at Sandals Royal Bahamian. The review below is his honest take on the East Bay Honeymoon Oceanview Club Room.
What else is noteworthy about the interior of these rooms?
Matt G: King bed, very comfortable. Flat screen TV, lounge chair, sitting bench at the end of the bed. Spacious, nothing cramped about it. The bathroom has two separate sinks in blue and white marble, rain shower, backlit mirror, Red Lane Spa toiletries throughout. Minibar is stocked with premium liquor, coffee and tea. Room service from 7am to 10pm. It’s a clean, newer feeling room and it has everything you need.
The HC is listed as an oceanview room. How was your view?
Matt G: It’s a partial view, I want to be upfront about that. The palm trees have grown up around the balcony so they do frame it. You can see the ocean, it’s lovely, but it’s not a wide open unobstructed view. The flip side is the palm trees give you more privacy on the balcony, so there’s a tradeoff. If an unobstructed oceanview is really important to you, you’d want to look at the beachfront category instead. But if you’re okay with a partial view and want to be at a lower price point, it’s a perfectly nice balcony and you’re just steps from the beach and pool anyway. Obviously the higher floors will have more of an open view. If you book with us we can put requests in to the right people right as they’re assigning rooms, we have a pretty good record of getting our clients in the best rooms.
Is Club Sandals worth the upgrade over a standard luxury room at this property?
Matt G: Yes, for a few reasons. The Club Sandals Lounge is right there on the first floor of the building which is convenient. It’s open 24 hours with a concierge available from 8 to 10 to handle spa reservations, restaurant bookings, excursions, whatever you need. Check-in is through the lounge, you get a chilled towel and champagne when you arrive, so you’re not standing at the front desk in line or anything. Sometimes a Mai Tai or rum punch depending on the day. Room service runs from 7am to 10pm. It’s a meaningful upgrade and worth having.
What do you think of Sandals Royal Bahamian as a resort overall?
Matt G: It’s a great resort and not too big, which I appreciate. About 15 acres, easy to get around, restaurants and pools are all very accessible from pretty much all of the rooms. The food was absolutely excellent. My three favorite restaurants are Butch’s Island Chophouse, Gordon’s on the Pier, and La Plume, the French restaurant. But I also have to give a shout out to the food trucks in the center of the resort. The staff there work so hard and they were just lovely, we stopped there every day for lattes, desserts, Bahamian fusion food. Overall there are 12 restaurants to choose from, Japanese, Italian, seaside grill, steak and seafood, sushi and more. The beach is long and uncrowded, my wife walked it every morning. And the entertainment was really good, very cultural, great music.
Sandals Barefoot Cay sounds cool. What is it exactly and is it worth the trip over?
Matt G: It’s a private island, just a few minutes by boat from the resort. We’ve heard others say it’s a game changer for a resort to have something like this, and I’d agree. Nassau is the only Sandals destination that has it. The ferry runs starting around 10am and returns through late afternoon, there’s a sign at the pier with the schedule. Once you’re there you’ve got the Aralia House restaurant and bar, multiple coves and beach areas where it’s easy to find a private spot, a Red Lane Spa in these zen-like little areas that are really fun to explore, a freshwater pool, swim-up bar, and a whirlpool. I went snorkeling and saw some incredible fish. And here’s a little tip: if you take the last boat back, you might get lucky and hear one of the wait staff sing. I don’t remember her name but she was quite a singer. That was a nice way to end the day.
What is there to do at Sandals Royal Bahamian beyond the beach and pool?
Matt G: Quite a bit. There’s an Aqua Center where you can sign up for scuba lessons, sign out a HobieCat or take sailing lessons, kayaks, water trikes, paddleboards, snorkeling. They run a snorkeling boat out at 10am and noon daily. On the land side there’s basketball, croquet, beach volleyball, billiards, darts, tennis, and four pickleball courts that are lit up for night play until 10 or 11pm. The Penthouse fitness center has panoramic ocean views, state of the art equipment, open 24 hours, and they have yoga classes outside on the lawn as well. The entertainment at night is really good too. There’s a sing-along piano bar that packs the place every night, the Coconut Beach Club outside with singers and performers, steel drums sometimes. We caught a sax player at Kanoo’s Terrace having a nightcap one evening and he was really good.
Any excursions worth doing off the resort?
Matt G: The Bahamas has a lot to offer. One of the most popular day trips is swimming with the pigs at Exuma. There are catamaran cruises, snorkeling, fishing, Nassau city tours, ATV sightseeing, a pirate experience. It’s honestly a short flight from Miami with so much to do, on the resort or off. I’d encourage people to look into it. And it’s worth noting the airport is only about 15 minutes away, so you’re not spending half a travel day in a shuttle. You land and you’re basically there.
Would you go back and stay in the HC room a 3rd time?
Matt G: Absolutely, in a heartbeat. The room is clean, comfortable, great location, easy access to everything. The food is excellent, the entertainment is excellent, Barefoot Cay is something you just don’t find at most resorts. My wife loved the beach. It really was one of my favorite getaways. I’d go back without hesitation!
