Barbados offers several all-inclusive resorts that provide a worry-free vacation where almost everything is included. Whether you’re a couple seeking romance, a family looking for fun, or a small group looking for the perfect destination, there’s probably an oasis for you in Barbados.

What's the Best Time to Visit Barbados?

The best time to visit Barbados is typically from mid-December to mid-April. This period offers great weather and numerous festivals and events. With average temperatures around 78 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s ideal for beach time and other outdoor activities.

As part of the British Commonwealth, Barbados is very popular with British tourists through the winter season. You may need to be flexible or make reservations well in advance.

However, for a quieter experience, travel during the off-peak months. The weather stays pleasant and you’ll encounter fewer crowds and maybe even lower rates. Our favorite time to visit Barbados is during the off-peak season between May and November, offering a more serene and budget-friendly vacation. Regardless of when you visit, Barbados guarantees a warm welcome and an unforgettable vacation.

Castries, Saint Lucia

Sandals Halcyon Beach is a quintessential Caribbean resort. The lush landscape enhances the privacy of each villa and suite and offers secluded hideaways throughout the resort.

“The landscaping around the rooms is amazing — flowering shrubs, palm trees, well-manicured lawns — and the beach and waterfront are beautiful.”

For food lovers, the resort offers six specialty restaurants and seven bars throughout the property. Our favorite is Kelly’s Dockside, a restaurant set on a dock over the water. If you’re looking for something special, the lobster at Kelly’s is a must-try (just be sure to request it a day in advance). In addition to lobster, the lamb also receives high praise from guests. The overwater dining experience combined with the stunning waterfront view creates a one-of-a-kind night out.

Budget-Friendly Honeymoon Options

For couples on a budget, there are many affordable honeymoon options to consider. Here are some popular budget-friendly honeymoon options:

  • All-Inclusive Resort Honeymoons: Look for all inclusive honeymoons that offer affordable packages and promotions. These packages often bundle accommodations, meals, and activities, providing great value for your money.
  • Discount Spa Treatments: Look for resorts that offer affordable spa treatments and packages. Many resorts have special offers or discounts on spa services, allowing you to enjoy some pampering without breaking the bank.
  • Alternate Destinations: Consider a honeymoon in Costa Rica, Mexico, or other lower cost destinations that offer affordable accommodations and activities. With its stunning natural beauty and diverse range of activities, Costa Rica is a great destination for budget-conscious honeymooners.
  • Entry Level Rooms at an All Inclusive: pick your favorite resort regardless of price, and select a garden level/garden view room. You get to enjoy the same luxury amenities, the same beach, water sports, activities, restaurants and food that everyone else does for a lower price.
  • Arrange a Split Stay: Want to stay in an Overwater Bungalow but can’t afford 7 days? We can help – just ask us how this works.

Planning Your Honeymoon

Planning a honeymoon can seem like a daunting task, but with a little guidance, it can be a fun and exciting experience. Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect honeymoon:

  • Start Early: Give yourself plenty of time to research and plan your honeymoon, ideally 6-12 months in advance. Early planning ensures you get the best deals and availability.
  • Set a Budget: Determine how much you’re willing to spend on your honeymoon and stick to it. Having a clear budget helps narrow down your options and prevents overspending.
  • Consider Your Interests: Think about what you and your partner enjoy doing together and choose a destination that offers those activities. Whether it’s adventure, relaxation, or cultural experiences, pick a place that aligns with your interests.
  • Research, Research, Research: Look into different resorts, destinations, and activities to find the perfect fit for your honeymoon. Read reviews, check out photos, and compare packages to make an informed decision.
  • Work with a Travel Agent: If you’re feeling overwhelmed, consider working with a travel agent who specializes in honeymoons. They can provide expert advice, handle the details, and often secure better deals. Need a travel agent… We can help!

What Our Agents Say...

How do you create the perfect All Inclusive Honeymoon Vacation? Here are what some of our agents had to say:

  1. Get the timing right – beat the crowd: “As of 2024 Most U.S. couples are married in October followed by September and June. Combine that with the fact that over the last 14 years, most couples (Honeymoon or not) book 4-6 months in advance of their departure date. Our agents commonly hear our clients say that they wish they had booked earlier.” – Matt G.
  2. What do you want to do? “Choose 2 things that each partner wants out of the Honeymoon and 2 things they don’t want. For example, no kids at the resort, visit the chocolate factory, go snorkeling in the Grenadines, eat the local food, enjoy local music or mostly play on the beach, and just chill. Some want no plans to allow for serendipity. That’s nice but it may limit what you can do given that many excursions will sell out. Review local and resort activities and excursions in advance. And – be sure to tell us what you see yourself doing so we can match your goals with the right resort vibe.” – Nicole W.
  3. Select a Destination: “Think about what it takes to get there in terms of both hours and expense. Some destinations cost more to fly to regardless of distance. Some resorts are 10 minutes from the airport, others are not. Are you okay with a two-hour winding transfer car ride, (I wasn’t) if not, but set on the resort destination, then maybe you would be better off with a helicopter or a ferry ride transfer? Again, check in with us and we can help advise on these options if needed.” – Susie C.
  4. Decide when to go: “Right after the wedding or…when the season is perfect? Getting married in late October in Greece might be romantic, but a honeymoon there in the first of November might be wet and chilly. The best time to visit Greece is outside the summer peaks, during Spring, (April to June) and early fall (September and October), temperatures are warm and many destinations are still open, but still relatively quiet. November to February tends to be colder. City attractions remain open and are pleasantly quiet. Did you know Greece has some all-inclusive Honeymoon resorts? Contact me for your dream Honeymoon in Greece, or anywhere that takes shape around your passions.” – Melody H.
  5. Select the right all-inclusive Honeymoon resort: “Not all resorts are the same. Even with Sandals I prefer to talk with my clients on the phone at least once to really understand who they are and what they would like. On St. Lucia alone there are 3 resorts that I book often, one has rooms with stunning views over the ocean and has more of an old-style Caribbean feel. Another costs less and is more of a boutique style resort on a very picturesque small bay that is perfect for someone who wants a laid-back experience. My favorite is a larger, more active all-inclusive honeymoon resort that is set on Rodney Bay, a beautiful setting. Ask me how to stay at one and visit all three. I have been to all these resorts and I’m happy to share my experiences!” – Susie C.
  6. Select how long you want to be on your Honeymoon. “The average honeymoon falls in the 7-10 day category. Shorter honeymoons are 5-7 days, and longer than 10-day honeymoon vacations often include multiple island hops. For those who like to experience multiple islands we recommend checking out the flight routes prior to booking your resort stays. Some Caribbean island flights will route you back to Miami before getting you to your second island destination. We can help you avoid this.” – Matt G.
  7. Think about the food – it might make or break your trip. “Foodie or not, it is important to have a nice selection of restaurants serving high quality dishes that are aimed to please. The best all-inclusive honeymoon resorts often have only 1-2 buffet style restaurants and up to a dozen or more indoor and outdoor eateries to choose from.” – Nicole W.
  8. Get the right room: “Honeymoon couples can spend up between 50-60% of their time in or at their rooms, especially if it is a special room that has a beautiful ocean view, private pool, is a swim up or overwater bungalow. That said, the best all-inclusive Honeymoon Resorts have plenty to do and are in beautiful settings making even the most economical room stay quite enjoyable.” – Matt G.
  9. Take a shortcut! “Talk to us first, not last. We can make it easy to create the perfect Honeymoon for you with a simple conversation. We do this every day, all day. We are familiar with the best resorts, and even the best rooms within a category at a specific resort. And…there is no charge to work with us and we will inform you of promotions that might help you save on your all-inclusive honeymoon vacation!”

Honeymoon Packages FAQ

How much does an all-inclusive honeymoon cost?

The correct answer depends on how far you go, when you go, how long you stay, where you stay, what you do and purchase if you leave the resort and so on. Over the past 14 years we have assisted thousands of honeymoon couples and can help just about anyone. Not knowing where you fly from… a 5 night all-inclusive honeymoon package booked for a 2024-2025 stay ranges from $2,438 to $10,000+ not including flights.

Why Choose An All-Inclusive Honeymoon Package?

Peace of mind. After check-in the first thing our clients do is toss their wallets in the safe because they probably won’t need them for days. Most all-inclusive Honeymoon Packages include airport transfers, all of your meals and drinks, water sports and other activities, entertainment, your room and often the flights. The best all-inclusive honeymoon resorts do not have separate levels of admission usually denoted by a wrist band. These luxury all-inclusive resorts with no wristbands allow all guests regardless of room type to enjoy all resort amenities.

What are some popular destinations for all-inclusive honeymoons?

Popular destinations include Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Curacao, Grenada, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Mexico, St. Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

When should we book our all-inclusive honeymoon package?

Our advisors will all say, do not put it off. One of the biggest mistakes made by engaged couples is not planning the honeymoon until after the wedding plans are made. Truth be told, most will say they wish they spent more on the honeymoon than the wedding because they enjoyed the honeymoon more.

The primary reason to book soon after making a wedding date is the fact that the best accommodations book well in advance and often popular resorts and the special room types (private pools, swim ups, overwater bungalows,) are the first to sell out. Note that flights may have to be booked later if you reserve more than a year in advance.

Also, it is common for couples to book in advance allowing their wedding guests to gift them items such as spa treatments, excursion credits and flight gift cards to help offset the costs of the trip.

How long should a honeymoon be?

That depends on your budget, time available and what your honeymoon goals are. Shorter stays are usually 5 nights, average stays 7-10 nights and long multi-location honeymoons are 10-14 days or longer.

Conclusion

The ideal honeymoon resort provides a perfect balance of romance, luxury, and unforgettable experiences for newlyweds. All-inclusive getaways offer couples the chance to relax in paradise without worrying about extra costs. From secluded beaches to adventurous activities, there are resorts that cater to every couple’s desires. By selecting the right package, honeymooners can create cherished memories in a stunning tropical setting, starting their new life together in the most magical way possible.

Sandals Saint Vincent: A Luxurious Getaway in an Unspoiled Caribbean Paradise

Sandals Saint Vincent

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sandals Saint Vincent in May 2024 for a corporate event, and I can confidently say this is one of the most impressive all-inclusive resorts I’ve ever visited. Having just opened in the late winter of 2024, at present it’s the largest and newest all-inclusive resort in Saint Vincent, set against a breathtaking mountain backdrop. Saint Vincent lies in the Lesser Antilles and is easily accessible via Argyle International Airport. Nestled on 50 acres of lush, mature tropical landscaping, the resort combines luxury, modern design, and untouched natural beauty to create a truly remarkable experience.

Table of Contents

Overview of Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Sandals Saint Vincent is a luxurious, all-inclusive resort located on the picturesque island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This adults-only haven is nestled on a large private cove, bordered by a lush forest and a gently flowing river, offering breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The resort’s pleasing design and beautiful beaches create an idyllic setting for a romantic getaway. Whether you’re lounging by the pool, strolling through the tropical gardens, or enjoying a sunset dinner by the sea, Sandals Saint Vincent promises an unforgettable experience for couples and honeymooners seeking a serene escape in paradise.

Expansive and Tranquil Setting

Sandals St. VincentWhen we visited the resort it was completely sold out. However, it never felt crowded. There was only one restaurant visit where we had to wait for a table. The resort is masterfully laid out, and the mature, exotic gardens create a sense of privacy and tranquility wherever you go. The mountain views that surround the resort add to the feeling of being in a hidden paradise, while the beautifully landscaped pathways and tropical greenery provide a constant connection to nature. Unlike other Caribbean islands, this resort offers a more tranquil and less crowded experience, making it a perfect alternative for those seeking a serene escape. With 301 rooms and suites spread across the property, the resort feels expansive and exclusive, offering plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

Private Pool Accommodations

At the time of our visit there were 15 different room categories. The suites were as large as 1,728 sq. ft., and cozy rooms starting at 580 sq. ft. Butler Elite Service Suites, Club Suites (which include room service) are also available.

Our stay in the Beachfront Butler Villa Suite with Private Pool (BVGP) was exceptional. The villa was not only luxurious but also spacious enough for us to invite our friends over for a drink and dip in our private pool. The beachfront pool offered spectacular ocean views; relaxing by the pool with such a stunning backdrop was a highlight of our trip.

The other couples we traveled with also had great rooms. One stayed in the Lady Palm Club Swim-up Suite with Media Room and Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub (1SUP), which featured a swim-up pool and private media room to relax after a busy day. The other couple enjoyed the tranquility of the One-Bedroom Garden Butler Suite with Media Room and Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub (VH) surrounded by tropical gardens. Each suite was very comfortable, luxurious and spacious enough to share.

The Service

If you have a Butler Service Suite like we did, you will be met in the lobby by one of your butlers. Typically, you will have 2-4 butlers over the course of your stay. They will introduce you to your room and explain what they can do for you, how to get in touch with them, and will make reservations for dinners or the spa if you’d like. Even though reservations are not required at most restaurants, it feels good to have a great table waiting for you when you arrive. Sandals Resorts are renowned for their commitment to enhancing the travel experience and have a stellar reputation in the Caribbean.

Get to know your butlers by name, they are trustworthy, genuinely friendly and a great source of information to help you make the most of your vacation.

Moodern Design and Stylish Layout

What sets Sandals St. Vincent apart is its blend of modern design and elegant styling throughout. It feels clean and fresh. The sleek, stylish layout of the resort creates a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

We were lucky enough to see the Overwater Villas (OWV), which were still under construction during our visit. These stunning, two-story villas offer a unique and exclusive experience not to be missed. Sandals has created a gem in Saint Vincent—combining luxury, natural beauty, and innovative design.

An Unspoiled Paradise of Natural Beauty

Sunset at Sandals St Vincent and the GrenadinesOne of the most memorable experiences of our stay was the Catamaran snorkeling excursion to Bequia Island in the Grenadines. Saint Vincent is the gateway to the Grenadines, a collection of 32 islands and over 1,000 islets. The region is an unspoiled paradise, and the waters around Bequia were crystal-clear, perfect for snorkeling. The colorful coral reefs and abundant marine life made the trip unforgettable. St. Vincent and the Grenadines stands out among Caribbean islands for its scenic beauty, less touristy nature, and accessible adventures, offering a unique experience for visitors. Some of the excursions available include:
  • Whale & Dolphin Watching
  • Private Golf in Canouan (Named one of the Top
  • 10 Golf Courses in the World)
  • Tobago Cays Snorkeling Trip including Union
  • Island and Mayreau
  • La Soufriere Sunset Cruise
  • Scuba Diving
  • Deep Sea Fishing
  • Island Hopping
  • Custom and private experiences… Just ask us!
Not to mention ATV tours, hiking to waterfalls, and even shopping! My wife said she wanted to go shopping in town, which can be accomplished quite easily. Given that Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are the “Critter Capital of the World”, diving here is some of the best in all the Caribbean. Snorkeling and diving (for certified divers) is included with your stay and Sandals has an affordable PADI certification program that has graduated over 140,000 divers. Closer to shore…we also enjoyed a bit of excitement when we took out a Hobie Cat for some sailing at the resort. While we were having a great time, the wind unexpectedly stalled, and we found ourselves drifting toward the rocks. Thankfully, the resort’s Water Sports staff was quick to respond and towed us back to safety. They were professional, attentive and fun loving. And yes, we provided free entertainment for our friends on the beach who were betting if we would make it back by lunch…or dinner. It was dinner.

Island Excursions

For those who prefer to stay on land, the lush Vermont Nature Trail offers a scenic hike through the island’s verdant landscape. Guests can also explore the picturesque town of Kingstown, with its charming streets and historic Fort Charlotte, or take a boat tour to the nearby Grenadines islands. Whether you’re seeking adventure or relaxation, the island excursions in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines provide something for everyone.

Local Culture and Cuisine

Sandals St Vincent and the Grenadines DiningSaint Vincent and the Grenadines are known for their rich cultural heritage and delicious local cuisine. Guests can immerse themselves in the island’s vibrant culture by visiting local markets, where the colors and aromas of fresh produce and spices fill the air. Traditional dance performances offer a glimpse into the island’s lively traditions, while cooking classes provide an opportunity to learn how to prepare authentic Vincentian dishes. The resort’s restaurants also showcase the island’s culinary delights, with menus featuring fresh seafood, traditional jerk chicken, and mouthwatering island desserts. Each meal is a celebration of the island’s flavors, making dining at Sandals Saint Vincent a truly memorable experience.

Top-Notch Dining and Amenities

With 11 world-class eateries, Sandals Saint Vincent is a foodie’s paradise. From fine dining to casual local fare, the variety and quality of the food were top-notch. We particularly enjoyed dining at Buccan, the resort’s family-style local cuisine restaurant. The relaxed atmosphere and delicious Caribbean flavors made for a fantastic evening, and we enjoyed connecting with fellow guests over dinner. The combination of unique culinary excellence and a laid-back, friendly vibe truly enhanced the overall experience. The Parisol Beach Club is another prime dining destination at the resort, offering unique Caribbean culinary delights such as callaloo and artichoke dip. Another highlight is the Three Jewels Rum Bar, known for its unique atmosphere with vinyl records and domino tables. The bar boasts an extensive 32-rum menu, featuring predominantly eastern Caribbean rums, adding to the allure of this vibrant spot within the all-inclusive resort’s offerings.

Sustainability and Wellness

At Sandals Saint Vincent, sustainability and wellness are top priorities. The resort is committed to reducing its environmental impact through sustainable practices such as energy-efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, and waste reduction. Guests can also enjoy a range of wellness activities designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation. From yoga and Pilates classes to indulgent spa treatments and healthy dining options, the resort offers numerous ways to nurture your well-being. The beautiful beaches and lush gardens provide a tranquil backdrop for these activities, allowing guests to connect with nature and find inner peace. What our Agents Have to Say

When I asked Susie, one of our travel companions, what she thought of our visit to Sandals Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, she laughed, and said, “Are you kidding me! Where do I start?”

  • First of all, to say the people of Saint Vincent are very friendly is an understatement, it’s like going on vacation with your favorite friends and neighbors, we made friends with the staff from day one.
  • Getting there from the airport takes a bit, but if you get a butler room you can sign up for a water taxi. The trip down the river only takes about 20 minutes. How cool is that?
  • The resort itself has this Hawaii feel with lush mountain peaks in the background. The resort is laid out nicely and nothing is too far of a walk. And there are bicycles to use at will throughout the resort…it just feels good.
  • Most of the pools that I saw faced the ocean. The main infinity pool is long and gorgeous. The private pools in the villas walk right out to the beach.
  • I’ve already booked clients into the Overwater Villas. They are two-story, modern-styled, and have their own tranquility soaking tubs for two that face the ocean.
  • Other innovations include media rooms, swim-ups and fitness guest rooms that are all very spacious.
  • There is also a beautiful over-the-water wedding chapel. I can’t wait to book my first wedding there.
  • The food is amazing. Dinner at Buccan is not to be missed – it is a smallish outdoor family style restaurant with 3 stone cooking, local Vincy ingredients from the sea and farms, all roasted and grilled from an open kitchen. There were several courses. Make sure you sip as the locals do with different rums and mixes.
  • If you go to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, you have to get out and see the sights. We took a day trip into the Grenadine Islands and I’m looking forward to going back. There are excursions to the active Volcano, lots of diving and snorkeling trips, rainforest hikes, sunset sailing and whale watching.

We all loved this trip – and you will too! Contact me and I’ll help you make this a trip you won’t forget.

Our Favorite Overwater Bungalows in the Caribbean

Woman at an overwater bungalow resort

Caribbean overwater bungalows and their often-larger siblings, Overwater Villas, are some of the most sought-after luxury suites in the Caribbean. But they are also notoriously difficult to build. One resort owner reportedly had to painstakingly move every living plant and animal during construction in order to meet the country’s strict environmental codes. To everyone involved, it seems to be worth it. But, therein lies the problem; there aren’t very many. Overwater bungalows in the Caribbean can be found in nine different countries. The most coveted units are often sold out more than a year in advance. But why are they so popular?

Choosing the perfect overwater bungalow in the Caribbean can be a delightful yet daunting task. Here are some expert tips to help you make the best choice:

  • Location: Opt for bungalows located in areas with stunning coral reefs and abundant marine life. This ensures you can enjoy snorkeling and diving right from your doorstep. Popular destinations include Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Aruba.
  • Amenities: Look for bungalows that offer luxurious amenities such as private infinity pools, overwater hammocks, and personalized butler service. These features enhance your stay, providing ultimate relaxation and convenience.
  • Budget: Determine your budget and choose a bungalow that fits within it. While luxury overwater villas can be quite expensive, there are also budget-friendly options that offer a unique and memorable experience.
  • Reviews: Read reviews from previous guests to get an idea of the bungalow’s quality and service. This can provide valuable insights and help you make an informed decision.
  • Sustainability: Consider eco-friendly bungalows that prioritize sustainability and minimize their impact on the environment. This ensures that your stay is not only luxurious but also responsible.

Some popular overwater bungalow resorts in the Caribbean include Sandals Royal Caribbean, Sandals Grande St. Lucian, and Aruba Ocean Villas. These resorts offer a range of amenities and activities, including private pools, overwater hammocks, and snorkeling and diving opportunities. By considering these factors, you can choose the perfect overwater bungalow for an unforgettable Caribbean getaway. Most overwater bungalow resorts in the Caribbean are adults only.

What our Agents Have to Say

“After selling Overwater Bungalows for years, I finally booked and stayed in one for myself! And I’ll point out that I was not sponsored in any way. It was a major bucket list item for me and was my retie-the-knot honeymoon. I chose the Over-the-Water Private Island Butler Villa with the Infinity Pool. It was 7 nights of pure bliss and wonder. We felt so special and pampered, from the BMW airport transfer to the personalized butler service, the amazing food, to the larger-than-our house Villa, we will never forget it. Everyone needs to experience this at least once in their lifetime.

Some of the things I want to share with everyone include that…

I loved the glow from the glass floor panels. We saw many different fish up close, right from our room including puffer fish, lobster, lots of different rays. You don’t even have to get in the water to enjoy the ocean—this was too cool.

The resort’s private island (including the clothing optional beach) is all yours until 10:00 AM each day when the resort guests are allowed to visit the beach.

The Butlers were a kick! Wonderful people that always made us feel special and welcomed time and time again with their thoughtful surprises. They even brought out the chef, given that we decided to spend nearly the entire week at our villa (hey, we bought it, we’re using it!).

Take advantage of the exclusive in-room dining experience. We had fresh, amazing food (including 3 lobsters at one dinner) from almost every restaurant at the resort.

This is an investment to remember, so prepare appropriately. From the butler requests, dining, excursions, to knowing which island, which type of bungalow or villa is right for you, and which unit to request, you want to get it right.

Talk to me—I’m happy to help and now I can say…I’ve been there!”

Overwater Bungalows FAQ

What is the top Caribbean destination for an overwater bungalow honeymoon?

Renowned for its pristine white sandy beaches, the Caribbean’s finest turquoise waters, and luxurious Caribbean overwater bungalows, we think Jamaica offers an unparalleled romantic experience. It’s also one of the easiest Caribbean islands to get to, with many international airports offering direct flights. Two of our favorite luxury resorts offering overwater bungalows, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast, are in Jamaica. These overwater bungalows in Jamaica are located on a heart-shaped wooden dock. With its secluded and private accommodations, couples can enjoy breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, indulge in world-class spa treatments, and savor exquisite cuisine. Jamaica also boasts an abundance of marine life, making it a perfect destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. Its idyllic setting, combined with impeccable service and attention to detail, ensures an unforgettable and intimate honeymoon experience.

What makes overwater bungalows special?
Overwater bungalows are distinguished by their unique and exclusive features. These luxurious accommodations are often built just above turquoise waters, offering guests the experience of being immersed in nature while enjoying the comforts of a high-end resort. The breathtaking views of the surrounding marine life and the soothing sound of gentle waves create an idyllic and serene atmosphere. The best overwater bungalows typically come equipped with their own decks, direct access to the ocean, and glass floor panels—allowing guests to observe the vibrant underwater world from the comfort of their own room. This combination of natural beauty and luxury make overwater bungalows an exceptional choice for those seeking an extraordinary and unforgettable vacation.

Is an overwater bungalow worth it?
We think so! Overwater bungalows, many with their stunning views and direct access to crystal-clear waters, provide an unique sense of tranquility and luxury. These exclusive accommodations often boast private decks and private infinity pools, allowing guests to bask in the beauty of the surrounding marine environment. While the cost of such accommodations may be higher than traditional options, the exceptional experience and memories created in an overwater bungalow are usually worth the investment.

How much do overwater bungalows cost?
The cost of overwater bungalows varies depending on the location, resort, and season. Generally, these accommodations start at a higher price point due to their unique features and limited availability. It is important to note that additional charges, such as taxes, service fees, and meal plans may apply. Given the exclusivity and unparalleled experience they offer, overwater bungalows are considered a premium accommodation choice for travelers seeking something out of the ordinary.

Are overwater bungalows all-inclusive?
Overwater bungalows typically offer a range of amenities and services to enhance the guest experience. However, it is important to note that the inclusion of an all-inclusive package may vary from one resort to another. While some overwater bungalows offer all-inclusive options, encompassing meals, beverages, and certain activities within the package price, not all resorts follow this model. It is advisable for potential guests to carefully review the specific offerings and terms of each resort to determine whether their desired overwater bungalow resort offers an all-inclusive package.

When is the best time to stay in overwater bungalows in the Caribbean?
The ideal time to stay in overwater bungalows in the Caribbean is usually during the dry season, which spans from December to April. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions, with minimal rainfall and lower humidity levels. The Caribbean’s dry season ensures a higher likelihood of clear skies, calm ocean waters, and optimal visibility for underwater activities such as snorkeling and diving.

When Should You Book Your Overwater Bungalow?
If you’re dreaming of a stay in an overwater bungalow, the best time to book is as soon as possible. Typically, these luxurious accommodations get reserved 12 to 24 months in advance. Waiting to book can significantly reduce your chances of securing a spot.

Why Book Early?

  • High Demand: Overwater bungalows are incredibly popular due to their unique features and exclusivity.
  • Limited Availability: Only a select number of resorts offer these rooms, which makes them a rare find.
  • Better Deals: Booking well in advance can sometimes result in better pricing and special promotions.

Planning Tips

  1. Research Early: Start by researching potential resorts and their booking policies.
  2. Be Flexible with Dates: If your schedule allows, flexibility can help you find available dates more easily.
  3. Consider Off-Peak Seasons: Traveling during the off-peak season may increase your chances of finding availability at a better rate.

By planning ahead and booking well in advance, you’ll maximize your chances of experiencing the unforgettable luxury of an overwater bungalow.

Which Sandals Resorts offer Overwater Bungalows?
Sandals offers all-inclusive overwater bungalows at four locations. The resorts that feature overwater bungalows include Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica; Sandals Grande St. Lucian in St. Lucia; Sandals South Coast in Westmoreland, Jamaica; and Sandals Saint Vincent in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Many of these overwater bungalows and villas offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean waters, allowing guests to indulge in a serene and private setting. With their elegant design, modern amenities, and direct access to the ocean, Sandals’ overwater bungalows offer couples access to ultimate luxury and relaxation.

What are some alternatives to overwater bungalows?

While overwater bungalows offer a unique and luxurious experience, they may not always be the best fit for every traveler or may not be available in every destination. Fortunately, there are excellent alternatives that provide similar levels of privacy, luxury, and connection to the sea.

Swim-Up Rooms

Swim-up rooms offer direct access to a swimming pool from the private terrace of your suite. Sandals, for example, offer exquisite swim-up suites in various Caribbean locations, such as Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica. These rooms blend the convenience of being able to plunge into the water directly from your room with the comfort and amenities of a luxury all-inclusive resort.

Private Pool Suites

For those seeking more seclusion and privacy, private pool rooms are an ideal choice. These suites come with your own personal pool, allowing you to enjoy a swim or relax by the water without leaving your room. Sandals Resorts again shine in this category, with options like the Sandals Grenada’s Skypool Suites, which feature private infinity pools with stunning views.

Beachfront Suites

While not directly on the water, like an overwater bungalow, beachfront suites offer immediate access to the beach and stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. These rooms allow you to enjoy the sounds of the waves and the beauty of the beach from the comfort of your room. Most Caribbean resorts have numerous beachfront options, offering a direct connection to some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches.

Garden Suites with Private Plunge Pools

For a more intimate, secluded experience, consider a suite with a private plunge pool. These accommodations often feature lush, tropical surroundings for a serene and intimate ambiance. They provide an excellent balance of privacy, luxury, and a connection with nature.

Conclusion - The Best Overwater Bungalows in the Caribbean

The allure of overwater bungalows in the Caribbean is undeniable. Beautiful overwater bungalows nestled above crystal-clear waters provide an idyllic escape where guests can enjoy additional privacy and breathtaking views. Whether you choose to stay in Jamaica or explore other Caribbean destinations such as St. Lucia, Antigua, or Turks & Caicos, an overwater bungalow will undoubtedly enhance your vacation, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.

The Appeal of an All-Inclusive Resort

Central to the appeal of all-inclusive packages is the convenience of a single price that covers everything during your stay. With one comprehensive rate, guests secure their accommodations along with amenities and experiences, eliminating the need for additional expenses during their stay.

Equally compelling is the variety of activities and amenities that most resorts provide. From sunrise yoga sessions on the beach to sunset catamaran cruises, the options are endless. Resorts often feature state-of-the-art fitness centers, full service spa facilities, multiple swimming pools, and even themed events. For those looking to immerse themselves in local culture, many resorts offer cooking classes, dance lessons, and cultural presentations that provide a deeper connection to the destination.

With logistics handled by the resort—be it dining reservations, activity bookings, or transportation needs—guests are freed from the usual planning and coordination that often goes along with travel.

Pros and Cons of Booking an All-Inclusive Resort

There are a lot of advantages to staying at an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. There are so many different resorts, of various sizes and styles, to choose from that it makes it hard to come up with many negatives. However, when deciding if an all-inclusive trip is right for you, here are a few things to consider.

Pros:

  • Convenience: Everything you need is at your fingertips, from dining to entertainment, eliminating the need for further arrangements.

  • Variety of Offerings: Resorts cater to diverse tastes. Looking for couples-only, family friendly, wedding venues, or group amenities? There is probably a resort for you! Our Travel Advisors can help you find the right one.

  • Stress-Free Planning: Dive into your vacation experience without the hassle of daily planning or advanced reservations.

  • Simplicity in Pricing: With one set price, you can enjoy MOST of what the resort has to offer (see what’s not included in the FAQ below).

  • Comprehensive Experience: With various amenities on-site, it’s easy to get a well-rounded vacation without needing to venture far off the beaten path.

Cons:

  • Larger Scale: The size of some resorts can be overwhelming and might not be exactly what some travelers desire. However, a small all-suite all-inclusive might be what you’re looking for!

  • Additional Charges: Spa services, golf, tips, top-shelf liquors, or specific excursions might come with additional fees not covered in all-inclusive rates. Check the resort’s website or with your Travel Advisor to understand what all is included in the price.

  • Group Dynamics: Some resorts cater to groups, which might be less appealing to travelers seeking a quieter environment. Look for an adults-only or even couples-only resort (such as Sandals) if it’s solitude you seek.

  • Personalized Service: Due to the high number of guests, some travelers might feel the service lacks a personal touch compared to smaller accommodations. However, many resorts offer a high staff-to-guest ratio and even personal butler service!

Caribbean All-Inclusive FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • Do all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean include food and alcohol?
All-inclusive resorts typically include all meals, snacks, and beverages, including a variety of alcoholic drinks. Many resorts even include complimentary in-room mini bars. Some resorts may offer premium dining and beverage options that require an additional charge, so it’s always good to confirm the details with the resort beforehand. Expert Tip from our Travel Advisors: If your resort’s restaurants take or require reservations, you’ll want to make them as soon as you arrive since they can fill up fast.
  • Is it worth paying for an all-inclusive resort?
We think so! Paying for an all-inclusive resort can offer excellent value, particularly if you plan to take full advantage of the activities, amenities, food, and beverages available. It allows for a worry-free vacation where almost everything is taken care of ahead of time. Many resorts, such as Sandals, even include most tips and gratuities in their all-inclusive package pricing.
  • What should I expect from an adults-only all-inclusive resort?
Adults-only all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean offer a serene and mature environment, ideal for couples or a small group of friends. Expect a sophisticated atmosphere with upscale amenities, gourmet dining, and premium drinks. Many adults-only resorts focus on creating a romantic or tranquil ambiance, offering amenities like spa treatments, candlelit dinners on the beach, and rooms with a private pool or a hot tub. Some resorts are even “couples only,” which makes them great for honeymoons and romantic getaways.
  • Do I need to tip at an all-inclusive resort?
While tipping is included at many Caribbean all-inclusive resorts, it is generally appreciated when guests leave additional tips for outstanding service. It’s a personal choice, but small gratuities can go a long way in expressing appreciation to the staff, who often go above and beyond to ensure guests have an exceptional stay. Some resorts, such as Sandals, include tips in their package price, meaning guests don’t need to tip for most services. However, there are still times when tipping is appropriate and recommended, such as for airport transportation providers, butlers, golf caddies, and spa attendants.
  • What’s not included in an all-inclusive package?
In a typical all-inclusive package, there are a few notable services and amenities that are not included, requiring additional fees for guests who opt for them. Spa treatments are not part of the room rate, so guests seeking spa services will need to pay for them separately. Many off-resort tours, even those provided by the resort, may not be covered in the all-inclusive rates. For golf enthusiasts, while greens fees may be included, caddies are usually not, representing an extra charge. Medical assistance, possibly for unexpected illness or injury during the stay, is also not included and may incur additional costs.

Tips for Booking an All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean

Look for Hidden Fees: “All-inclusive” usually means that everything is included, but sometimes there are exceptions. Check for potential fees for top-shelf liquors, special dining experiences, spa services, or motorized water sports. Always read the fine print and don’t hesitate to ask your Travel Advisor or contact the resort directly if you’re unclear about any fees.

Review Resort Activities and Amenities: Different resorts cater to different audiences. Some are family-focused with kid-friendly activities, while others are adults-only and emphasize romance and privacy. Before booking, review what the resort offers to ensure it aligns with what you’re seeking. Also, ask your Travel Advisor if there are any additional experiences that might pique your interest.

Understand Cancellation Policies: While all-inclusive resorts offer convenience, they might have stricter cancellation policies compared to other accommodation types. Before booking, ensure you’re clear on the terms. Some resorts offer a full refund if you cancel well in advance, while others have non-refundable deposits or stricter guidelines. We typically recommend travel insurance to our clients to help safeguard against unforeseen circumstances.

Conclusion

In the vast and diverse world of travel options, all-inclusive Caribbean resorts stand out for their convenience, luxury, and variety. Coupled with the stunning beauty of the Caribbean Sea, they offer travelers a vacation experience that’s both stress-free and exciting. For those seeking a blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion, all within a well-curated environment, the above resorts truly deliver. Time and again, we find ourselves wholeheartedly recommending these Caribbean gems to our clients. Dive into an all-inclusive, and let the Caribbean treat you to the adventure of a lifetime.

Jamaica's All Inclusive Vacation Destinations

Jamaica is dotted with numerous tourist hotspots, each offering a unique flavor of the island’s vibrant culture and breathtaking beauty. To begin, let’s look at the main areas frequented by tourists in Jamaica, which is also where the majority of Jamaica’s all inclusive resorts reside:

Montego Bay

Montego Bay, fondly referred to as "MoBay" by locals, is the gem of Jamaica's northern coast. It's a harmonious blend of vibrant city life and serene natural beauty, marked by its pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and rich cultural heritage. The city's lively reggae beats, historic colonial architecture, and the warmth of its people make Montego Bay an unforgettable Caribbean destination. Montego Bay is home to several luxury all inclusive resorts and hotels. The Sangster International Airport is also located here, making it a convenient entry point for international tourists.

Woman on the beach in Jamaica

Ocho Rios

Ocho Rios, often called "Ochi" by locals, is a jewel on Jamaica's north coast. What makes it special is its harmonious blend of natural beauty, adventure, and cultural richness. Ocho Rios is home to the famous Dunn's River Falls, a cascading waterfall that visitors can climb, providing both a scenic view and a thrilling experience. The region also boasts the lush and expansive Fern Gully, a haven for plant lovers. Alongside its natural attractions, Ocho Rios offers a bustling town center with vibrant markets, local crafts, and a taste of authentic Jamaican cuisine. Its port regularly welcomes cruise ships, making it a popular spot for day-trippers. Ocho Rios boasts several high-end all inclusive resorts, including the newly opened Sandals Dunn's River.

Runaway Bay

Situated between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay is less crowded but equally as beautiful as its more popular neighbors. Runaway Bay offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure in a less-populous setting. Its proximity to some of Jamaica’s prime attractions, like the Green Grotto Caves and the Bob Marley Mausoleum, add a little something extra for those wanting to explore local Jamaican culture. Many travelers feel that beach resorts in Runaway Bay offer access to a more authentic side of Jamaica. There are several all inclusive resorts in Runaway Bay for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. Additionally, inclusive vacation packages provide a hassle-free experience with lots of options to help make your stay remarkable and affordable.

South Coast

The South Coast is emerging as a destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience. This region of Jamaica is graced with rugged coastal landscapes, tranquil beaches, and lush countryside, providing a perfect backdrop for both adventure and relaxation. Its location away from the main tourist hubs ensures a quiet, intimate Jamaican experience. According to our travel advisors, Sandals South Coast stands out as one of the top romantic resorts in all of Jamaica for honeymoons and intimate getaways. Nestled within a 500-acre nature preserve, this all inclusive resort is the epitome of tropical elegance. It boasts overwater bungalows, world-class dining experiences, and a vast range of activities, from water sports to spa treatments.

  • What are the entry requirements for U.S. and Canadian tourists?
  • U.S. Citizens: A valid passport is mandatory when leaving and re-entering the United States. U.S. tourists must also have a return or onward ticket for entry into Jamaica.

Canadian Citizens: Canadians are also required to present a valid passport indicating their country of citizenship.

It is crucial for both U.S. and Canadian tourists to stay informed about any travel advisories by regularly checking the Jamaica's Tourism Board's official website: https://www.visitjamaica.com/plan-your-adventure/travel-tips/entry-requirements/

  • What currency is advisable for U.S. and Canadian tourists to use in Jamaica? And what about at the resorts?
  • Resorts widely accept U.S. and Canadian Dollars. If you take a guided tour off the resort, you may want to have some Jamaican Dollars (JMD) on hand as well. Jamaica has a multitude of banks in all resort areas, making currency exchange relatively straightforward for U.S. and Canadian tourists. The daily fluctuation in exchange rates makes it wise to shop around for the best rates before converting your cash. Most ATMs in Jamaica accept international bank cards with Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus, and Plus logos.

  • What's the best time of year to visit Jamaica?
  • Our favorite time to visit Jamaica is from November to mid-December when the weather is ideal and the room rates are most reasonable. The peak tourist season is from mid-December to April; while the island is bustling with activities and events, the prices for accommodations are usually higher during this period.

  • What is the weather like in Jamaica?
  • Jamaica boasts a tropical climate, with high temperatures and humid conditions prevalent year-round. For those visiting from colder climates like Canada or the Northern U.S., this climate provides a warm, welcome escape. However, the island experiences two rainy seasons from May to June and September to November. But even if it does rain, these are usually short, tropical showers providing a refreshing break from the warmth of the afternoon sun. Remember to check the weather conditions during your planned travel dates and pack accordingly.

These resorts often feature multiple restaurants, each specializing in different cuisines, ensuring that there is something to satisfy every palate.

  • Is Jamaica safe for tourists?
  • Jamaica is generally safe for tourists, especially within resort areas. Exercise usual cautions like avoiding isolated areas and not displaying valuables openly. Most resorts have robust security measures in place to ensure guests' safety. If you do venture away from the resort area, consider doing it as part of a guided tour arranged by the resort.

  • Can I drink the tap water in Jamaica?
  • Tap water in Jamaica is generally safe to drink due to stringent testing protocols imposed by the government, but if you have a sensitive stomach, it's advisable to stick to bottled or purified water, widely available at resorts and stores.

  • What is the official language in Jamaica?
  • The official language of Jamaica is English, locally spoken with a distinctive Jamaican accent and cadence. English is used in government, commerce, education, and is universally spoken and understood across the island, especially at all the major tourist destinations and resorts. However, while English is widely spoken, tourists will also have the delightful opportunity to hear and experience Jamaican Patois (or Creole), a colorful and expressive linguistic variant of English interspersed with words and phrases from various languages, reflecting the island's diverse heritage. Patois is predominantly spoken in informal settings and is a significant aspect of Jamaican cultural identity. It embodies the vibrant and dynamic spirit of the Jamaican people.

  • What about transportation and airport transfers?
  • Taxis, buses, and car rentals are available. However, many all inclusive resorts offer shuttle services and/or guided tours to popular destinations and attractions. Depending on your departure city, you can be in Jamaica in as little as two hours! Jamaica is among the most accessible island destinations from the U.S. and Canada, typically not requiring a long-haul flight.

  • Yes, all inclusive resorts in Jamaica typically include all meals, snacks, and beverages, including a variety of alcoholic drinks. Many resorts even include complimentary in-room mini bars. Some resorts may offer premium dining and beverage options that require an additional charge, so it's always good to confirm the details with the resort beforehand.

  • Is it worth paying for an all inclusive resort?
  • Absolutely! Paying for an all inclusive resort can offer excellent value, particularly if you plan to take full advantage of the amenities, food, and beverages available. It allows for a worry-free vacation where almost everything is taken care of, enabling you to relax and enjoy without concerning yourself with individual expenses. Many resorts, such as Sandals, even include most tips and gratuities in their all inclusive package pricing.

  • What should I expect from an adults-only all inclusive vacation in Jamaica?
  • Adults-only all inclusive resorts in Jamaica offer a serene and mature environment, ideal for couples or small groups of friends. Expect a sophisticated atmosphere with upscale amenities, gourmet dining, and premium beverages. Many adults-only resorts focus on creating a romantic or tranquil ambiance, offering amenities like spa treatments, candlelit dinners on the beach, and rooms with private pools or Jacuzzis.

  • Do I need to tip at an all inclusive resort?
  • While tipping is included in many Jamaica all inclusive resorts, it is generally appreciated when guests leave additional tips for outstanding service. It's a personal choice, but small gratuities can go a long way in expressing appreciation to the staff, who often go above and beyond to ensure guests have an exceptional stay.

For example, Sandals Resorts includes tips in their package prices, meaning guests don't need to tip for most services. However, there are exceptions where tipping is appropriate and recommended, such as for airport transportation providers, butlers, golf caddies, and spa attendants. Spa attendants typically receive around 20%, considering a 12.5% gratuity is already included in the bill. Butlers can be tipped as seen fit, usually at the end of the stay, with amounts ranging from $20-30 per day per butler, and overwater bungalow butlers receiving $50-100 per shift. Cabana butlers, who provide personalized care, usually receive between $20-50. Many guests choose to convey their gratitude in thank-you cards, enclosing the tip before leaving.

  • What's not included in an all inclusive resort vacation?
  • In an a typical all inclusive vacation package, there are a few notable services and amenities that are not included, requiring additional fees for guests who opt for them.

Spa treatments are not part of the all inclusive offerings, so guests seeking these wellness services will need to pay separately for them. Many off-resort tours, even those provided by the resort, may not be covered in the all inclusive price. For golf enthusiasts, while greens fees might be included, golf caddies (mandatory) are not included, representing an extra charge. Medical assistance, possibly for unexpected illness or injury during the stay, is also not included and may incur additional costs.

What is the safest island in the Bahamas? Most of the islands in the Bahamas are considered safe for travelers, especially on the resorts' properties. Nassau, Paradise Island, and Exuma are among the most visited and have well-established tourist infrastructures.

Do I need a passport to travel to the Bahamas? Yes, a passport is required for all international visitors arriving in the Bahamas.

What is the best time of year to visit the Bahamas? The peak season is from mid-December to mid-April, when the weather is most favorable. However, visiting during the off-season can mean fewer crowds.

What currency is used in the Bahamas? The Bahamian dollar (BSD) is the local currency, which is pegged to the US dollar (USD). US dollars are widely accepted throughout the islands.

Table of Contents

The Most Popular Honeymoon Destinations for U.S.-based Newlyweds

Here are three of our most asked about destinations:

Jamaica

Jamaica is a top honeymoon destination choice for many couples. This Caribbean island nation offers beautiful beaches, stunning resorts, and plenty of activities to keep couples busy. In Jamaica, there really is something for everyone. Couples can relax on the beach, explore the lush rainforest, or enjoy an adventure activity like zip lining.

Jamaica is also known for its delicious food. There are plenty of restaurants serving up local specialties like jerk chicken and curried goat. And, of course, no trip to Jamaica is complete without taking in some world-famous reggae music, which is plentiful throughout the island.

There are countless resorts to choose from in Jamaica, but some of the most popular for honeymooners are Sandals South Coast, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Beaches Ocho Rios. These resorts offer everything from luxurious over-water bungalows to swim-up suites and beachfront rooms, all with meals and drinks included!

The Bahamas

Crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches make the Bahamas a truly picturesque honeymoon destination. The weather in the Bahamas is warm all year round, making it a great destination any time of the year.

The Bahamas is home to some of the most unique wildlife in the world, including dolphins, flamingos, iguanas, and even swimming pigs! Swimming with dolphins is a popular activity, and the waters around the islands are full of brightly colored fish that make for great snorkeling.

The Bahamian culture is rich and diverse with a mix of Caribbean, African, and American influences. There is always something to do in the Bahamas, whether you’re looking for a quiet beach to relax on or a nightlife scene of casinos and clubs.

Some of the most popular all inclusive resorts in the Bahamas include Sandals Emerald Bay and Sandals Royal Bahamian. These resorts offer everything from luxurious honeymoon suites to all-inclusive packages that include food, drinks, and activities.

Common Misconceptions About Destination Weddings and Honeymoons

Destination weddings and honeymoons can be a lot of fun, but they're not without their fair share of myths and misconceptions. Here are some of the most common ones we hear about:

Myth

You have to be rich to have a destination wedding or honeymoon.

Fact

While it’s certainly possible to spend a lot of money on a destination wedding or honeymoon, it’s not necessary. There are plenty of affordable options available, especially if you’re willing to be flexible about your destination and timing. Some properties, such as Sandals Resorts, offer FREE wedding ceremonies or honeymoon packages when you book a minimum number of nights at one of their resorts (for select room categories)!

Myth

All destination weddings and honeymoons are expensive.

Fact

There are many amazing honeymoon destinations that are within reach of most newlyweds. The key is to set your budget and then talk to a travel advisor that can help you find the perfect match for your budget and desires.

Myth

If you have a destination wedding or honeymoon, you’ll have to do all the planning yourself.

Fact

Not true! Many travel agencies, like us, specialize in planing destination weddings and honeymoons. Also, many resorts offer wedding planner services for free when you book your stay at their resort. They may also include wedding photographers, receptions and more. Take advantage of these offers for a stress-free wedding that you’ll never forget!

Myth

You’ll have to miss out on all the traditional wedding ceremonies if you have a destination wedding or honeymoon.

Fact

Again, not true! Many resorts offer wedding ceremonies that are just as traditional (and likely more beautiful) than those back home. Family-friendly resorts, such as Beaches Turks & Caicos, will allow you to invite guests of all ages and offer all-inclusive wedding packages that include everything you need to have a classic wedding ceremony.

Do Men and Women Have Different Ideas About What Makes a Great Honeymoon?

Although men and women may have different ideas about what makes a great honeymoon, both partners can usually agree that relaxation, romance, and new experiences are key ingredients.

For many women, the perfect honeymoon involves plenty of rest and relaxation with a mix of swimming, sunbathing, and romantic walks along the beach. A couples massage or a day at the spa might be the ultimate honeymoon activity for many newlywed women.

While men may also crave relaxing sunset strolls, many are also looking for a little excitement and adventure during their honeymoon. They may want to try activities like zip lining or snorkeling or visit interesting places like ancient ruins or tropical rain forests.

Ultimately, the best honeymoon vacations are those that allow each partner to relax and explore in their own way. Choose a destination that offers something for each of you and don’t be afraid to try new things!

What are the Best Room Types For a Honeymoon?

Is it worth it to spend more money on a luxury honeymoon suite, like an over-water bungalow, swim-up suite, beachfront walkout or private pool villa?

When it comes to picking the best room type for your honeymoon, it really depends on what you’re looking for and what your budget will allow. If you want to be right on the beach, then a beachfront room is the way to go. If you’re looking for a little bit of luxury, then a swim-up suite or private pool villa might be perfect for you. And if you really want to pamper yourselves, then why not splurge on a fabulous over-water bungalow? Honeymoon villas and suites often come with features like private pools, swim-up room access, in-room Jacuzzis, and even butler service! Plus, they offer couples plenty of privacy and the ultimate romantic setting in which to celebrate their special day. We highly recommend these luxury upgrades, as they make for an unforgettable honeymoon experience!

What Are Some Common Mistakes Couples Make When Planning Their Destination Wedding or Honeymoon?

There are a lot of things to consider when planning your honeymoon: What kind of trip do you want? Where do you want to go? And how much can you afford to spend? While most couples plan and dream about their honeymoon for months in advance, sometimes things don’t go as planned.

Here are five common mistakes people make when planning their honeymoon:

  1. Not consulting with each other about what type of honeymoon you each desire. Some couples want a relaxing beach vacation while others would rather explore a new city. Make sure you discuss the type of trip you both want before booking anything. A honeymoon should be relaxing and romantic, but also offer an opportunity for both you and your partner to try something new!

  2. Waiting until the last minute to book. If you wait too long, your chosen resorts and room types may not be available, and you may end up paying more than you wanted! Most honeymooners book their trip months in advance; we recommend you start planning for your honeymoon 12 months before your travel date. Flights may get pricier the closer in that you book, so book early for the best rates.

  3. Not doing the research. There are so many amazing places to visit in the world, but not every destination is right for every couple. Make sure you know what you’re getting into before booking your flight and hotel. Ask friends, read reviews, and talk to a travel advisor! Travel advisors have been to many of these resorts and can offer a wealth of information that isn’t available elsewhere.

  4. Not budgeting properly. Just because it’s your honeymoon doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune. Set a budget and try to stick to it as best as possible. If you start your planning early, you may be able to save up for the extras that matter to you the most. An affordable all-inclusive resort may also help you stay on budget without having to worry about cash while you’re on vacation.

  5. Not accounting for travel time and jet lag. If you’re traveling across the country, make sure you consider how many time zones you’ll be crossing and how long it will take for your body to adjust. You don’t want your honeymoon to be ruined by jet lag! If you can, add an extra day to recover from jet lag once you arrive, and maybe even an extra day at home when you return.

In conclusion

Congratulations on your engagement! To make the most of your honeymoon, be sure to talk to your partner about what kind of trip would make both of you happy. Stick to your budget, and if you can, splurge on the room type you really want—like a private pool or honeymoon suite—that will make your honeymoon even more special. Avoid common mistakes and reach out to a travel advisor to help you find the perfect destination and resort. Be sure to take advantage of the honeymoon and wedding packages many resorts offer (sometimes for free!) to make your honeymoon as stress-free as possible.
