Our All-Inclusive Experts have stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian multiple times. Today Carol Garton is sharing her detailed review of the East Bay Poolside Walkout Club Level Room (room code PC), which she stayed in with her husband a few weeks ago. Watch her walkthrough video here, then read her honest review below. You can also ask her questions directly!
The PC is a ground-floor club level room at Sandals Royal Bahamian, in the East Bay building at the east end of the resort. The defining feature is the walkout patio that puts you just a few steps from the East Bay pool area. Inside, a king-size bed with custom mahogany furniture, his and hers sinks, and a walk-in spa-like shower with Italian porcelain tiling. Club Sandals concierge service is included, with preferred check-in, room service from 7am to 10pm, and access to the Club Sandals Lounge.
Sandals Royal Bahamian also includes access to Sandals Barefoot Cay, which is a private offshore island with its own beach, pool, restaurant, and Spa. It’s just a short boat ride from the resort. It’s one of the things that sets this Sandals apart from other resorts. There’s no cost to work with our all inclusive experts at Creative Travel Brands. We can do things like watch the price after you book, and if a lower rate becomes available we can help apply it to your booking, and obviously much more. We’ve stayed in these rooms and can help you choose the best room for YOU! Read on for Carol’s full review.
All-Inclusive Expert Carol Garton has spent extensive time at Sandals Royal Bahamian including two separate visits in the past year. She recently stayed in the East Bay Poolside Walkout and shared her honest thoughts here. The tour video above is from her stay. Feel free to ask her any questions directly using the form below!
Where is this room located within the resort, and what’s the East Bay location like?
Carol G: As you’re facing the beach, it’s on the far right side of the resort. It’s the very last building if you’re walking from the main entrance to the beach, so it’s very close to the ocean. It’s close to a lot of things, really close to everything. The main pool is right there, just step out of the room. The beach and ocean are a few steps away. It’s not a huge resort, so it’s very easy to get around but this room is basically in the perfect location whether you like pool, beach, or both.
How about food & entertainment?
Carol G: Very close. The entertainment is in the center of the resort and it’s not far. There’s the piano bar and Coconut Grove, which is an open-air lounge with games, music, and entertainment. We loved going every evening. You can grab a dessert crepe from the food truck nearby, grab a drink, and sit on the couches. Really, this resort is good if you don’t want to walk too far to anything and like I said this room is just perfectly located even within a perfectly sized resort.
Walk us through the room itself, what’s inside?
Carol G: It’s a club-level room, so you get more amenities than you would with the luxury category, so it’s one step up from the base level. It’s a walkout on the ground level, so you can walk right out to the pool which is awesome. You can just bounce back to your room if you need to use the bathroom or rest. You can even use your patio as your set-up spot and not have to be in the rows of pool chairs if you prefer, which is super nice if it’s busy.
Inside it’s bright and cheerful, decorated in shades of blue and white, very modern. There’s a big king-size bed with bedside tables, a sitting area right next to the sliding glass doors that lead out to the patio, and an upholstered bench at the end of the bed where you can sit when you’re putting your shoes on or getting dressed. There’s a closet with an electronic safe, robes, slippers. AC works great, flat-screen TV with cable, Wi-Fi throughout the room and the public areas. It’s sort of a basic layout but it feels spacious and it’s comfortable to hang out in when you want to cool off or order room service, you know, it doesn’t feel cramped at all.
How is the bathroom area layout and such?
Carol G: It has two sinks, nice Italian porcelain tiling, a dual-head shower. There’s a makeup mirror, which I really appreciate. They stock the room with Red Lane Spa amenities, shampoo, cream rinse, body wash, lotion. It’s not massive but it’s comfortable enough for 2 people to easily get showered and ready at the same time before dinner. My husband and I didn’t have any issues with space.
I assume it has a minibar?
Carol G: Yeah of course. Water, juices, and beer in the mini-fridge, and you can ask for whatever you’d like to be added when you arrive. There’s Robert Mondavi wine, liquors and mixers. A coffee maker and good tea. That said, I’d walk a few feet to the food truck called Sweet & Tings, they make a great coffee or latte. There’s another food truck nearby that serves Caribbean food too.
The “walkout” part is in the name. Did you use the “walkout” feature much?
Carol G: Yeah we used it a ton! The room is just a few steps away from the pool. You walk out and you’re right there. There are two very large pools at the resort, and this is the quiet one. The busier, more entertainment-focused pool is on the west side, but it’s not too far. The patio is semi-private, with a lot of bushes, flowers, and trees around it that give you some privacy. You can hear some people walking by since there are sidewalks running near the patio.
Is it private enough for most people?
Carol G: It depends what you want. If you really want very private and very quiet, a walkout probably isn’t your best choice, you’d want to go a couple floors up or look into a Rondoval or something else. But if you’re happy with stepping outside your room, heading to the pool or the beach, and being able to easily come back to your room, it’s great for that. We could go to the pool, come back, sit outside, have a drink, read a book, and head back to the pool or beach whenever we wanted. You’ll see a person or two walking by sometimes but it’s not like wide open to a busy walkway or anything like that. It’s peaceful.
What does Club Sandals service get you here, and where does this room fall on price?
Carol G: Club Sandals is an extra concierge tier that makes a nice difference. You have preferred check-in so you don’t have to wait at the main front desk, you use the Club Sandals Lounge, and you can use it for whatever you need during your stay. And there’s a concierge service that handles reservations, excursions, and anything else you need. You also get room service from 7am to 10pm, that’s not included with the luxury level, though you can get takeout from pretty much anywhere. We like to have breakfast on the patio, which is wonderful in this room. The resort is all-inclusive, so food, drinks, taxes, gratuities, and round-trip airport transfers are all included. Spa treatments are extra. The transfer for this room isn’t private, you’re on a small bus, but it’s always a comfortable ride, not a big deal. Some of the upper tier rooms have private transfers included.
How does the price compare to other rooms here?
Carol G: This room is kind of middle of the road at Sandals Royal Bahamian from a price perspective. You’re getting club-level service and walkout pool access and it’s much more affordable than the butler suites, so this room is perfect if you want to spend most of your time out of the room doing stuff and you don’t need that upper level of butler service. Depending on dates and length of stay, you might be able to get a promotion that lowers the rate on this room, some of the upper level rooms at Royal Bahamian don’t really go on promotion. We can help you navigate all that if you book with us and there’s no extra cost or price difference, you can even still make your booking directly with Sandals and still have us for extra support. Just reach out.
What is there to do at the resort, off-property, and at Sandals Barefoot Cay?
Carol G: There’s a lot, depending on what you enjoy. You can lay by the pool or go to the beach all day of course. At the beach you can get a Hobie cat and go sailing, take a lesson if you’ve never sailed, or have the staff take you out, all included. There are paddleboards and kayaks. They go out snorkeling every day, with all the equipment provided. There are 7 pools and 5 whirlpools, so you can find a more private spot or a livelier one. Pickleball is big right now, my husband love it… they have 4 lighted courts so you can play at night when it’s cooler if you’re there in the summer. The gym looks nice but I don’t really use it, ha! but the view from up there over the Caribbean is incredible to work out and look out over everything. You can see the private island and the overwater chapel.
Day and night entertainment runs all through the resort, including the Coconut Grove open-air lounge and a piano bar we love. Go early to the piano bar so you can get a seat.
Tell me about Sandals Barefoot Cay.
Carol G: Barefoot Cay is the offshore private island, only 5 minutes away by water taxi. It leaves around 10 in the morning and runs hourly throughout the day. It’s all part of the all-inclusive. You can go to the pool, which does get pretty busy, or the open-air restaurant where the food is great. We went to the beach, which was private and had lots of areas with lounge chairs and umbrellas already set up. It felt like we were totally away from the world. We had a great time. We went swimming and snorkeling. My husband swam and snorkeled while I had a drink and listened to a book. I’d suggest everybody go over to the private island. If you go once, you’ll probably want to go back again.
What about excursions off the resort?
Carol G: We use Island Roots, and our agents can help you book them ahead of time, no extra cost. A lot of times they fill up so it’s something worth talking about with us ahead of your trip if it’s something you want to do. There’s a catamaran and snorkeling cruise. You can do a day-long trip to Exuma to swim with the pigs. You can rent an ATV or do a Jeep experience. There’s deep-sea fishing, and Snuba, which is similar to diving but you don’t go all the way down. There’s a separate diving excursion if you’re certified. You can go shopping in Nassau or take a glass-bottom boat out, which is great for non-snorkelers. And there’s a really unusual one called the Thunderball Grotto, where they filmed two James Bond movies. You swim underwater into a cave and the sun shines down into it. I wouldn’t do it, I’m claustrophobic, but my husband would. Afterwards they take you to swim with the pigs and see iguanas. Tons of unique options.
Who would you recommend this room to?
Carol G: It’s a great fit for couples who want easy access to the pool and beach, who want club-level service without paying for a butler suite, and who don’t mind a little foot traffic on the patio in exchange for being a few feet from everything. If you really want maximum privacy and quiet, a walkout might not be your first choice, but if you like just stepping outside, heading to the pool or beach, and being able to go in and out of your room quickly and easily, this room is excellent for that.
Final thoughts?
Carol G: It’s fabulous. I love the Bahamas. The crystal clear blue water and the soft sand beaches are my favorite, and this room puts you right in the middle of all of it. Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to answer!
