Upstairs is an open, airy living room with plush seating, a wall-mounted HDTV, a fully stocked bar, and retractable glass doors that pull the sunlight in; downstairs is the master bedroom with a king bed, a smart TV, a sitting area and desk, and glass doors to a private balcony over the sea. Every stay is **Butler Elite** with **24-hour room service** and a **private airport transfer**, and the decor is warm coastal style with natural wood and touches of sea glass.

Honest Review: Oceanfront Two Story One Bedroom Butler Villa Suite with Private Pool (B2P)

Tell us about the B2P villa at Sandals Regency La Toc.

Carol G: This is the most important part. The oceanfront two-story one-bedroom butler villa with a private pool sits up above on the cliffs, 50 feet above the sea, and there’s nothing between you and the Caribbean, so it’s one of the best views you can get at any of the Sandals resorts. It’s a two-story bluff suite. On the top floor there’s an open, airy living room with plush seating, a wall-mounted HDTV, a fully stocked bar, and retractable glass doors that welcome all the sunlight in. Downstairs is a spacious master bedroom with a king-size bed, and the headboard is this gorgeous wood background that looks almost like cut logs, with whites and shells, very beautiful, very unique. There’s a smart TV, a desk and a sitting area, and the bed faces a ridiculous view. It’s warm and stylish with sea-inspired decor, natural wood, and touches of sea glass. This room is special, and dramatic, almost out of a movie, but it’s not necessarily for everyone. I’ll talk about that here too.

Carol G: The bathroom is very well appointed, a big two-person soaking tub, two separate sinks, lighted mirrors, and a walk-in shower, very spacious. And the patio has your own private plunge pool that overlooks the Caribbean, with a couple of lounges and your own umbrella. You could not stay in a room with a more beautiful view. You just get into your own pool and relax, then come back and sit in the sun. It’s a fabulous room. When you couple the view with the level of privacy that you get it ranks as one of our top recommendations for a private pool suite.

Where exactly is the villa on the resort?

Carol G: It’s at the top of the resort in the cliff area. There are a few rooms and buildings above it, but there’s nothing in front of it, so your view is directly into the ocean, no other buildings at all, an absolutely perfect view. One of our most memorable moments was that from up on the bluff you could see all the ships coming in and out of Castries, including the cruise ships all lit up at night, and the stars over the ocean were fabulous. Very romantic. To get up there you do usually want to take a golf cart up the rolling hillside, because the whole resort is set on 220 acres that climb from the beach up over the cliffs. You can walk up, but it’s a bit of a steep hill, not too far, but there are always carts running up and down so it’s not too big of a deal. Though, if you’re less interested in a view and you want easy walking access to everything, reach out to us and I can recommend some other amazing and private rooms at Sandals Regency La Toc. This room is for people who want amazing dramatic views and don’t mind the hill, it’s definitely something you have to consider.

How do you get to the resort from the airport?

Carol G: Most flights come into Hewanorra International, which is a little ways away, about an hour and a half, and it is a curvy ride up into the mountains. Because the B2P is a private-transfer room, when you land you go through customs, head to the Sandals lounge, they have your name and your room and your private transfer waiting, and they take you to the resort in a private transfer not a bus or shuttle van. If a curvy ride bothers you, there are two other options for an added cost, a helicopter, which ranges from $160 – $200 per person each way and is obviously a spectacular ride, or a ferry, which takes about about the same amount of time but you’re out on a boat and not in a winding car. We live in a mountainous area and are used to curves, so the car doesn’t bother us at all, but it’s good to know the options. There’s also the smaller Castries airport closer to the resort, but it’s a little trickier to fly into. One of our travel advisors has done that too, though, so reach out and we can look into that option for you.

How does the butler service work?

Carol G: When you get there you’re greeted by your butlers, who check you in and take you to your room by golf cart, pointing out the restaurants, the pools, and where the entertainment and stuff will be along the way. You usually have two butlers, one in the morning and one in the evening, and they give you a butler cell phone so you can reach them whenever, plus you have 24-hour room service with this room if you want food or a drink in the middle of the night, whatever you need. They’ll set up any reservations you need, save your seats at a pool or the beach, and bring you food and drinks during the day. I like coconut shrimp back in the room in the afternoon after a day at the beach, and they’ll have it there when you want it, or bring you a strawberry daiquiri or a pina colada at the pool. They’ll even pick you up in a golf cart and take you to dinner. They’re not in your way, they just give you the VIP treatment. A lot of our clients are hesitant but almost everyone loves it.

Which Sandals resort is better, Halcyon or La Toc?

Carol G: They’re really different, and the great thing is you don’t have to choose, it’s stay at one, play at three in St. Lucia, Sandals Grande St. Lucian, Sandals Halcyon, and Sandals La Toc, and a shuttle runs between them, about 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. I’d suggest staying at one and visiting the other two, they’re all unique. La Toc is special because it’s big and hilly, which gives dramatic views, 220 acres climbing from the beach up over the cliffs, and up top it genuinely feels like a French village, the cobblestone, the hills, the stairs, overlooking the water, it reminds me of Eze or Nice in the south of France, a totally different vibe than down on the cove beach. Halcyon and the Grande are flatter and more laid back. Halcyon is more quiet and relaxing, the Grande is generally livelier with music and beach and pool activities going on. La Toc is pretty balanced between the two. That’s just my opinion. One honest note: because La Toc is so hilly with stairs, if you have any difficulty walking it may not be the resort or room for you, even with the golf-cart shuttles, and the Grande or Halcyon would be easier.

What’s the dining like at Sandals Regency La Toc?

Carol G: There are 10 restaurants and 8 bars, everything from Caribbean to French to Japanese to Italian, and you can just grab pizza or sushi too. Armando’s, up on the cliff overlooking the water, was our favorite for breakfast, it opens at 8 and if you get there right when it opens you don’t wait, and there’s a pool with a waterfall right below where you sit outside over the water, very romantic. It’s also great for southern Italian classics at dinner. La Toc, the French restaurant, is excellent and does need a reservation, so have your butler book it as soon as you arrive. Neptune’s is Mediterranean by the sea, the Soy sushi bar on the cliff over the bay is very popular, there’s Kimonos for Japanese, and the Pavilion for buffet-style breakfast and laid-back lunches. And Buccan is an open-hearth, family-style experience, charred meats, fresh local veggies, island ingredients cooked low and slow, all very local, and you meet other guests at the table, we made new friends there.

What’s the entertainment like?

Carol G: There’s entertainment going day and night, both on the beach side and up on the cliff side, so you can catch music, someone singing, or instrumental, down on the beach, then take the shuttle up and there will be something on the cliff at night. Lots of Caribbean music. One night we watched fire dancers and fire eaters, which was quite a thing, and another night we sat down on the beach and listened to wonderful music.

What else is there to do, on the water and on land?

Carol G: If you’re a golfer you can golf for free at the Cap Estate course, green fees covered and they shuttle you back and forth, it’s not far you can just make a tee time when you’re there usually, it’s pretty easy to get on, but you can do it in advance too or we can help you with that if you book with us. If you’re a certified scuba diver you can go out, and there’s snorkeling with equipment provided, Hobie Cats, paddleboards, and kayaks, though the water can be a little choppy here at times and we had a couple of red-flag days when the sailboats couldn’t go out, so a kayak might be the better call then. There are 3 pools and 4 whirlpools, beach volleyball and other land sports, and a fitness center. All of that I mentioned is included. Off the resort we use Island Routes for excursions, and we took an all-day catamaran sunset cruise that was so fun and gorgeous, the Pitons, the mountains, were spectacular, calm water, snorkeling, food and drinks and dancing coming and going. You can also do a Piton hike, ziplining, waterfalls and mud baths, a drive-in volcano, dune buggies, all kinds of adventures. St. Lucia is a really great island with a ton to do.

Is Sandals La Toc worth it?

Carol G: We really enjoyed this villa and this resort. The views from up on the bluff are unbelievable, the ships lit up at night, the stars over the ocean, your own plunge pool looking out at the Caribbean, it’s hard to beat. Right now this room runs around $950 per person per night and it moves with the season. If you’d like something a little less, there’s a similar oceanfront two-story one-bedroom villa with a balcony soaking tub but no plunge pool for less, and if you want to go up, there’s a Rondoval Butler Sky Villa with a private pool and rooftop stargazing but no ocean view…but also no hill. Or, at the very high end the Sunset Bluff Millionaire Butler Villa, which is like a multimillion-dollar island home 150 feet above the sea. We loved the two-story villa though, it’s a great balance where you feel like you’re in a movie star’s cliffside condo. Tell me your dates and I’ll price the options for you and find the best fit for you!

Is Sandals La Toc couples only?

Carol G: Yes, like all Sandals resorts, La Toc is made for couples, two adults, so it’s an adults-only, romantic setting. It’s a wonderful spot for a honeymoon or an anniversary, especially a cliffside villa like this one with the private pool and the sunset views.

Carol G: I’d be happy to help you pick the right villa, set up your transfer and excursions, and find the best-priced dates for your trip. Just give us a call.
