Carol has stayed at Sandals Jamaica South Coast many times, it was the first Sandals she ever visited and it’s still one of her favorites, and she’s stayed in a swim-up suite like this one. Below is her review of the Longbeach Beachfront Swim-up Club Level Suite with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub, room code LSUP. Watch her walkthrough video here, then read her full review below. If you have a question she doesn’t answer, you can ask her directly!
The LSUP is a beachfront, beachfront swim-up suite in the Longbeach building at Sandals Jamaica South Coast, right at the front of the resort just steps from the pool and the sand. Step off your patio into your own swim-up pool, and relax on the large patio with a Tranquility soaking tub for two, sitting area with table and chairs for coffee and pre-dinner apps, and lounge chairs in the shallow water to cool off. The view is great, looking across the pool to the beach and the ocean, and inside it’s bright and tropical, a king bed in light wood, couch, and a large walk-in shower. The fridge is stocked with premium liquor, and as a Club Sandals room you get a concierge lounge, private check-in, and all-day in-room dining. The resort sits inside a 500-acre nature reserve and is freshly renovated, reopening November 18, 2026.

Tell us about the LSUP suite itself.
Carol G: This room is spectacular, and if you love the beach, the ocean, a pool, and the tropics, you’re going to love it. It’s on the beachfront, so you can’t beat having a swim-up room this close to the beach, the view is across the pool and then the beach. One thing that’s a little different, it has an extra big window with shutters you can open or close besides the sliding glass doors, so it gets a lot of light, it’s already light and airy, and it’s very tropical with tropical wallpaper and white shutters. There’s a king bed in lighter wood that feels modern and luxurious, a dresser, and a comfortable couch under that window. Out the sliding doors is a large patio with a Tranquility soaking tub and a privacy curtain, a small table, lounge chairs, and the swim-up with in-water lounge chairs in the shallow part where you can dangle your feet, or swim laps, or just enjoy a drink or a coffee. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, and the fridge is stocked with juices, water, pop, wine, beer, and premium liquor, and if you want something specific, just ask your concierge.
Where is the room, and how private is the swim-up?
Carol G: It’s in the Longbeach building at one end of the resort, on the left side looking in from the beach, very close to the pools and the beach, which is probably 10-15 yards out of your room. It’s one of the best locations on the whole resort. Now I’ll be honest, because the room sits close to the beach and closer to the pool, there’s foot traffic, people from the resort walk by on the beach and there’s a walkway a little higher up around the pool, so people can see in, which is exactly why the privacy curtain matters. It wouldn’t bothered us, it felt like being at a pool, and you’re close to a lot of good things, there’s a bar right there outside, a guy was making fresh coconut drinks using fresh cut coconuts, and a hammock bar where you can lie out over the ocean with a drink, plus a restaurant or two just around the corner. It’s really a good room for the money. And because it’s club level you have the concierge for reservations and all-day in-room dining, so you can have breakfast delivered when you get back from a swim. I should say that your view will vary based on the room you are assigned to in this category – some will have a better view of the ocean than others. Let me know if I can help you with this or a more private or quiet room recommendation.
Carol G: It’s reopening November 18, 2026 after a storm forced a full renovation, but you can book it now, or you might be reading this after it’s reopened. They’ve redone, rebuilt…. and as Sandals says…reimagined and updated a lot of the resort and it’ll be absolutely spectacular. There’s a huge pool that reaches all the way out to the beach, so cool. They’ve added a new Blum coffee shop, I love getting an iced mocha latte there in the morning, plus Sushi on the Sand and a beachside chicken food truck called Chick and Dippers. And there’s a brand-new room category coming that’s a first for Sandals, a Beachfront Club 2 Queen Junior Suite with two beds, which is wonderful for a couple who likes separate beds or for two friends or family sharing a room for a wedding. I can’t wait to get back and see all of it.
Carol G: It’s a little over an hour from the Montego Bay airport to the resort. You fly into Montego Bay, and once you clear customs you go to the Sandals lounge where they have your transport ready, it’s comfortable, the shuttle is air conditioned with spacious, comfortable seating. If you’d rather not take the shuttle, we can arrange a private transfer through Island Routes for a fee, it’s very comfortable and more intimate, we’ve done both and tend to prefer the private transfer, but the included shuttle is perfectly nice too. When you arrive, someone greets you to check you in, usually with a cool cloth for your hands and face since it’s warm in Jamaica, and a rum drink to welcome you.
Carol G: It’s one of my favorite resorts, it was the first one Matt and I ever visited and we’ve gone back many times. It sits on 50 acres inside a 500-acre protected nature reserve with a two-mile walking beach, so it has a wonderful natural backdrop, very lush landscaping, and it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. It’s tucked away in nature, not in a city, though it has quite a few shops. You’ll see amazing flora and fauna, we even spotted a streamertail, the black long-tailed hummingbird found only in Jamaica, and they took me on a tour of the flowers and made me a beautiful bouquet. It’s a bigger resort, 380 rooms, so you’ll get your steps in walking from one end to the other, but in 15 years of doing this we’ve had very few complaints about it, and the vibe is romantic and chill. I’d say it’s absolutely worth it.
What’s the dining like?
Carol G: There are 10 restaurants and 7 bars, and we’ve been many times so we have favorites. There’s the new Blum coffee shop, Butch’s for a cut above steaks, Jasmine’s for Pan-Asian, Schooners for seafood by the shore, Neptune’s for seafood too, Sushi on the Sand if you like sushi, Bayside which is a buffet by day and transforms into a French restaurant by night, Giuseppe’s for pizza and pasta, which we’ve ordered to the pool and the beach, the Jerk Shack for real Caribbean jerk, and the new Chick and Dippers beachside chicken food truck. There’s food for everybody, the food is phenomenal. One thing I love, if you’re a foodie, don’t be afraid to order two of something, I always ask for two lobsters instead of one and they graciously bring it, or two salads, or two desserts, eat as much as you want.
What is there to do, on the water and on land?
Carol G: Lots. If you’re a certified scuba diver they take you out twice a day with equipment provided, and you can get certified on site if you stay long enough. You can water ski, tube, wakeboard, sail a Hobie Cat, paddleboard, kayak, snorkel or dive a couple of times a day, all the equipment is sterilized so you feel comfortable. There are 4 pools, including that amazing new large one, and 4 whirlpools, plus tennis, land sports, and lots of pickleball courts, it’s a great place to bring friends for a pickleball tournament. There’s day and night entertainment with live shows every day, the first time we were there a gentleman was playing guitar and singing and people were dancing right along the walkway, it has wonderful energy. Off the resort, Island Routes can set up deep sea fishing, a catamaran charter, horseback riding on the beach, a treetop zipline, an ATV adventure, a snorkeling adventure, a dolphin experience, a reggae sunset cruise, or an Appleton Estate rum tour, and we’re happy to help you choose ahead of time.
Carol G: I’d be happy to request the best swim-up, set up your transfer and excursions, and find the best-priced dates for your trip. Just give me a call!
The Longbeach Beachfront Swim-up Club Level Suite is one of the best-located rooms at the newly renovated Sandals Jamaica South Coast, a swim-up pool and a soaking tub for two right across the pool at the beach, with Club Sandals service and a 500-acre nature reserve all around.
